The guided "featured" trips listed below are ideal for individuals wishing to
join a larger group and for experienced paddlers who want to paddle in a
particular location, to learn new techniques, or to meet other paddlers. Group
sizes are 8 or fewer -- and usually 6 or fewer. If you are a family or group,
please ask us about discounts.

Harbor to Harbor Tour: (6/22)

Rockport to Camden, 3.5 hours. 10:00 AM - 1:30 PM. Suited to both beginning and experienced paddlers. This trip
features two historic sailboat filled harbors as well as Indian Island
(complete with lighthouse), Curtis Island, and Beauchamp Point. Paddle out of
the narrow Rockport Harbor, around Indian Island, and then northeast along the
beautiful, rugged, estate-lined shoreline leading to Camden. $50.00 per person
(includes kayak, gear, guide service, service, instruction, snacks, and digital
photos). $15.00 discount if you have your own boat and gear.

Belfast Harbor
Tour: (6/20) --Also evenings by reservation.
2 hours plus. 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM or by appointment. Suited
to beginner and intermediate paddlers. Launch from a beach near the town dock
and paddle past tugboats and sailboats to explore beautiful Belfast Harbor.
Depending on conditions paddle up the Passy River or out past Patterson Point
and toward Moose Point State Park. Sunsets and moonrises are a bonus! $35.00
per person (includes kayak, gear, guide service, instruction, snack, and
digital photos). $10.00 discount if you have your own boat and gear.

Sears Island Circuit: (8/17)
3 hours plus. 9:30 AM
to 12:45 PM. Suited to beginner and intermediate paddlers. Circumnavigate the
varied and undeveloped shores of Sears Island, one of the largest undeveloped
islands on the East coast. Enjoy beach combing on the rocky shoreline and the
views of the Camden Hills and Turtle Head. $45.00 per person (includes kayak,
gear, guide service, instruction, snack, and digital photos). $10.00 discount
if you have your own boat and gear.

»Muscle Ridge Odyssey: (6/21, 8/2, 8/16)
7 hours. 9:00 AM to
4:00 PM. Suited to paddlers with some experience and above. (Athletic novices
will also do very well). Weave
amidst the quiet and picturesque "pointed fir" islands and rocky ledges of this
fascinating archipelago. Lunch and stroll the beaches on Birch Island. Perhaps
take a quick "Maine swim" in the clear calm water of Birch Islands sandy beach.
Look for seals, ducks, osprey, eagles, and nesting blue heron. Time and
conditions permitting, venture outward along the pink granite shores of Andrews
Island to remote Two Bush Light. $90.00 per person (includes kayak, gear, guide
service, instruction, snacks, and digital photos). $30.00 discount if you have

New for 2011: Sail & Sea Kayak Excursion: (7/12)
Belfast to Seal Harbor 6 hours. 9:00 AM to
3:00 PM. Suited to paddlers of all abilities. Sail with the tide from Front Street Shipyard at the mouth of the Passagasawakeag River in Belfast Harbor aboard Miss Nina with our kayaks on board. After a two hour sail and a lunch of sandwiches, fruit and chips in the protected harbor of Sprague Cove, embark from the Miss Nina for a two hour guided kayak tour from Sprague Cove, around Flat Island (where seals bask and bark in the sunlight), Ram Island, which is dotted with a few quaint, historic cottages, and up into the mouth of Seal Harbor. It is not uncommon to see Eagles, Guillemots, and Cormorants while paddling along this western shore of Islesboro. $150.00 per person (includes sailboat charter fee, kayak, gear, guide
service, instruction, snacks, and digital photos).
Owls Head Ramble: (dates TBA)
7 hours. 9:00 AM to
4:00 PM. Suited to paddlers with some experience and above. (Athletic novices
will also do very well). Paddle out of busy, sloop-filled Rockland Harbor, past the historic breakwater, and on to scenic Owls Head and Owls Head Light. After visiting the lighthouse, continue on to circumnavigate wild Monroe Island, and then onto Sheep Island and it's ledges. After lunching on Sheep or Owls Head, return to Rockland Harbor. $90.00 per person (includes kayak, gear, guide
service, instruction, snacks, and digital photos). $30.00 discount if you have

»Deer Isle Sampler: (7/19)
7 hours. 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Suited to both beginning and
experienced paddlers. This trip features the close cluster of islands
immediately off the village of Stonington -- and many opportunities to comb
beaches, wade in tidepools, & explore the trails of uninhabited small
islands. Hike to an island hilltop for a panoramic view of the archipelago.
Look for osprey, eagles, guillemots, and starfish. Watch lobster fishing. Swim
in a fresh-water island quarry. $90.00 per person (includes kayak, gear, guide
service, instruction, snacks, and digital photos). $30.00 discount if you have

Great Wass Odyssey: (7/5 & 7/6, 7/26 & 27)
Full day, times to be determined. Most suited for paddlers with one or more
days of previous paddling experience. The Great Wass Archipelago -- off Jonesport, Maine -- is a
bit further up the coast than Camden, Deer Isle, or Acadia, but that is the
only reason you may not have heard about it as a premier paddling destination.
It has all those areas have, and more. Spend one or two days exploring this
wild and remote archipelago complete with lighthouses, pristine islands,
wildlife, protected inlets, rugged coastline, fog, high cliffs, and booming
surf. $90.00 per person (includes kayak, gear, guide service, instruction,
snacks, and digital photos). $20.00 discount if you have your own boat and
gear. (Camping and inns available locally, please contact us for info.)

Inn-to-Inn Excursion; (8/9-8/10) --Ask about additional dates.
3 days.
Suited to paddlers with some experience and above. (Athletic novices will also
do very well). Tenants Harbor to Camden. Paddle out of quiet boat-filled
Tenants Harbor and then head northeast Northern, High, Clark, Seavey, Norton,
and Whitehead Islands -- and that's all before lunch on the first day. Continue
north past Spruce Head Island and then turn up the Weskeag River to the Weskeag
Inn. Day 2 highlights include Birch Point Beach, Ash Island, Monroe Island, and
Owls Head (lighthouse and high rocky cliffs). Day 3 highlights include
Rockland, Rockport, and Camden Harbors, as well as the lighthouses of Indian
Island and Curtis Island. $270.00 per person (includes kayak, gear, guide
service, instruction, shuttle service, snacks, and digital photos). $30.00
discount if you have your own boat and gear. Please note: lodging arrangements
are made separately by participants -- we provide a list of suggested inns.
Lodging costs average $120.00 - $160.00 per night for two people.

Fast Track Coastal Kayaking
Course:
(7/12 &13)
13 hours over 2 days. Class size limited
to 6 people. Designed for the paddler with anything from a few days to a few
years experience on the water who wishes to rapidly push his / her paddling
technique and knowledge to a higher level, and thereby experience increased
enjoyment and confidence. Three main components make up this program: (1)
Rescue technique, (2) Paddling technique, and (3) Safety, Seamanship, and
Navigation. Rescue sessions focus on developing and refining techniques such as
the paddle-float rescue, t-rescue, Eskimo rescue, and Eskimo roll as well as
lesser-known techniques such as re-entry and roll with a paddle float and
modified t-rescue. Various tows will also be practiced. Paddling technique
sessions include development and refinement of forward and reverse strokes,
sweeps, braces, j-lean, etc. Safety, Seamanship, and Navigation sessions
include discussion of chart & compass, GPS, VHF, tides, currents, wind,
waves, and weather. The beginning and intermediate paddler will come away from
this session with increased ability and confidence as well as respect for the
challenges presented by going out on the sea in small boats. $180.00 per person
(includes kayak, gear, guide service, instruction, snacks). $40.00 discount if
you have your own boat and gear.

Kayaking in Conditions
Workshop (8/23)
6 hours. 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Location:
Reid Beach State Park, south of Bath, Maine. Suited to paddlers who have begun
to learn (but not necessarily mastered) bracing, rescue techniques, paddling in
adverse conditions and are ready to push themselves a bit further. Boat
readiness, paddling in wind, currents, and confused seas, and rock gardens as
well as launching and coming ashore in moderate surf & rough water safety
and rescues will be emphasized in this course. In the meantime, we will enjoy
the spectacular and varied shoreline of the peninsula south of Bath, Maine,
which includes several miles of sand beaches as well as rocky islands and tidal
rivers. Class size will be limited to 5 in order to maximize personal
instruction and safety. $80.00 per person. $20.00 discount if you have your own
boat and gear.
Butter
Island Cruise (7/20)
Full Day. Suited to experienced paddlers and ambitious beginning paddlers. This
trip features paddling alongside rugged shoreline cliffs, crossing to Eagle
Island Light and distinctive Hardhead Island, and then cruising on to Butter
Island, sweet as its name, which has long sandy beaches and a hilltop that
offers an unsurpassed view of Penobscot Bay. Time permitting, we will cruise
the Barred Islands before returning to Sunset. $90.00 per person (includes
kayak, gear, guide service, instruction, snacks, and digital photos). $30.00
discount if you have your own boat and gear.
