Representing a new concept in sit-on-tops, the Florida is a fun
and user-friendly recreational kayak suitable for a range of body types
and uses.
While most sit-on-tops perch the paddler in a shallow cockpit several inches above the waterline, the Florida has a deep cockpit and provides the paddler with a low center of gravity. The low center of gravity, in turn, allows solid stability despite the sleek design. The hull design of the Florida is based on that of the Alaska -- a classic design that has stood the test of time and has made happy paddlers of a wide variety of people in a wide range of conditions. Like the Alaska, it has sharp "v"ends which enable it to track very well for a boat of its length. This model's low profile on the water helps minimize any weather-cocking due to wind. Like all Janautica kayaks, the Florida has a sporty feel and is easy to turn. Beginning paddlers, children, and those unable (or unwilling) to put their legs under the deck of a traditional kayak will especially love this boat. The Florida is especially suited for lakes, rivers, and protected ocean. Anyone paddling in two foot waves in bound to get wet, but on a hot summer day that's part of the fun. (And you can suntan your legs while you paddle). The Florida is best suited for medium and small sized paddlers. Those under 5'11" and 160 pounds will fit best in this boat.
