The Seal is designed as fast, light, responsive boat for beginning and intermediate paddlers and for smaller paddlers at all levels of ability

The bulbous (like a seal head) bow provides improved handling in swells by helping the boat ride over large waves.

The flat bottom of the midsection narrows to a deep "v" in the ends, providing an outstanding balance of stability, tracking, and turning ability. Like all Janautica designs, the Seal needs no rudder. As with the Alaska, many who paddle this boat are surprised about how well it tracks given its compact size. It's a responsive, fun boat that's easy to throw in the water for a quick paddle. Yet it also has enough storage capacity for weekend trips. Smaller & lighter paddlers who feel lost in big boats will especially like the Seal -- both for its length and for its relatively low cockpit coaming. Although cut a bit higher than the Alaska, this boat is also "worn" at the hips, not at the waist and thereby provides for minimum wind resistance, efficient paddling and good control -- even for people who are not six feet tall.

The flared sides of the Seal hull provide both the paddlling efficiency of a narrow boat plus the stability of a wider boat. In other words, as you lean the boat to one side, more of the hull comes in contact with the water. This makes for a very safe-feeling boat for beginning and intermediate paddlers.

The front and rear bulkheads and rubber hatch covers provide secure dry storage space for gear.

Outfitting details include ergonomic seat, adjustable foot rests, front and rear deck lines, front and rear deck elastics, paddle groove, paddle lock, and carrying toggles.

Options on the Seal are priced as follows: 1-piece backrest/seatpad - $40.00; cockpit insert / thigh brace - $25.00; rudder - $150.00. Please note: day hatch and deck pump are factory installed and not available on all models.

The Seal is available in a variety of colors -- either solid or with a colored deck and white hull.

Janautica boats can be shipped to your home for $75 - $175 for most destinations in the U.S. Please call or write for an estimate on shipping costs.
