| The
Victoria PE (also known as the Simon) is a versatile little polyethylene
boat endearing to beginners as well as to experienced paddlers wanting a
craft versatile enough to be a home in rivers, lakes, and protected
ocean.
The hull design of the Victoria PE is the same as that of the fiberglass Victoria. The flat bottom and flared sides of the hull provide solid initial stability and allow leaned turns. Its "v" ends help it track very well when compared to other boats of its length. Reviewers for Canoe & Kayak said this of the fiberglass sister of the Victoria PE: "With a couple of easy strokes, it's apparent this is a well-mannered craft. The boat tracks adequately without rudder or skeg. Yet a little knee lift will trigger the start of a gentle arc or you can put it up on the full midships sections and briskly pivot it." The Victoria PE's cockpit is roomy for a kayak of its size, and the notched foot rest system provides solid bracing for paddlers of different leg lengths. The Victoria PE is especially suited for rivers, lakes, and protected ocean. Its short waterline allows quick turning when compared with longer touring kayaks. On the other hand, it does not have the pronounced rocker of a white water boat and thus tracks much better than those boats when asked to go in a straight line. The Florida is best suited for medium and small sized paddlers. Those under 6'0" and 175 pounds will fit best in this boat. Outfitting details include ergonomic seat, back band, a rear storage compartment, screw type hatch, and carry loops. The Victoria PE is available in a red, orange, yellow, and aqua. |
